The safer people (manual handling) train the trainer course allows you to train people in the safe use of hoist and slings in manual handling. Successful completion of this course will allow you to independently train staff in the safe principles of lifting and handling as well as the following:

  • Assess methods of safe manual handling of people
  • Examine legal requirements
  • Explore risk assessments
  • CQC fundamental standards and you
  • Safeguarding and manual handling issues
  • Train staff in safe lifting techniques of people utilising a range of equipment.

It runs over 2 days and includes a review of current case law as it applies to manual handling in the UK for lessons to be learnt for trainers. You will have to design and deliver an assessed micro-teach training session on manual handling as your competency skills assessment. During which you must be able to employ and demonstrate safe use of the equipment and to train and assess others as competent.  You will also be required to produce a manual handling plan for tutor/peer review. The course is accredited for 12 hours CPD and is mapped to CQC training recommendations and fundamental standards 2020.

Summary and Booking
The course allows you to train staff in manual handling, it includes a refresher of current safer people (manual) handling techniques. In addition to reviewing current case law on manual handling in the UK for lessons to be learnt. Participants will learn to design and deliver an assessed micro-teach on manual handling. The candidates must be able to employ and demonstrate safe use of the equipment and to train and assess others as competent.
