Commentary:
The Skills for Health (SfH) UK Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF) was developed to provide a national standard for healthcare staff education and training. The CSTF is recognised across the healthcare sectors, as well as by NHS England, NHS Employers, healthcare professional bodies such as the British Medical Association (BMA) and the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), and by regulators, such as the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in England.
This course involves a combination of theory and practical training, incorporating case discussion, classroom learning activities and practical assessments. It covers the statutory annual refresher training requirements and is valid for 1 year and includes practical skills assessments for staff to demonstrate competency. The course is regularly updated to cover the latest guidance (for example the clinical and care subjects’ requirements)
Please be aware this course is only suitable for staff with existing health care experience. Candidates without the suitable experience will be required to attend more in-depth training in order to achieve a safe and proficient standard in the areas covered.
